About Katie
Hey everyone! My name is Katie and I graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. I am currently working at Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada as a Small Animal Rotating Intern. My primary focus in school was small animal general practice with the goal of one day owning my own practice. I also have an interest in dairy animals (goats and cows), and raised a few cows in my undergraduate career (see pics below). I love spending my free time with my two pooches, Ruby and Zeus, (pictured below), and doing veterinary related outreach in the community. I am so lucky to be on the path towards my dream career and I am so glad to be a part of the best profession!
I did my undergrad at UC Davis. I majored in Animal Science with a minor in history. I got my veterinary experience through working in a small animal general practice and specialty hospital in Southern California. I did research in the Dairy Food Safety Lab and interned at the UC Davis Dairy on campus. I also joined Sigma Alpha, a professional agriculture sorority, where I held multiple leadership positions. I started working as a Pre-Veterinary Peer Advisor for Health Sciences Advising on the UC Davis undergraduate campus in 2012 and decided to continue helping students through this website! In my 6 years of advising experience, I have helped over 100 students apply to and receive offers from veterinary schools across the country. I've also helped students plan appropriate courses to take, find animal and veterinary experience, and prepare applications for veterinary school. I created this resource to continue helping students and share the knowledge that I've accumulated over the years. Most of the information is specific to UC Davis, but some of the more general information can apply to any school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or new content that you'd like to see! Interested in learning what life is like as a DVM? Check out my blog! |
